According to HGTV, the 2018 color trends are here. Among the hottest are purple, onyx and bright red.

Using Purple Paint in Your Home

Purple paint can be a beautiful color in your home, but it’s not right for every room. Because purple communicates bravery and boldness, it’s great for a room like a library… but it can be tough to work with, because it’s at the shortest frequency of wavelengths visible to the human eye.

Brands that use purple include Yahoo!, Monster.com and the LA Lakers. Think about how you feel when you see those brands and see where it’ll fit best in your home.

Using Onyx Paint in Your Home

Onyx is essentially black, and it’s associated with formality and elegance. However, too much can create an intimidating or unfriendly environment.

If you’re using onyx paint in your home, make sure you offset it with contrasting molding, light furniture and bright décor, like this, or only use it on an accent wall, like this.

Using Bright Red Paint in Your Home

Bold and beautiful, red can be a nice touch – but make sure you pair it with light, peach-based tones and neutral hues. Combining it with white molding, white furnishings and white linens can create a jaw-dropping effect. It’s great as an accent wall, too.
