Tips to Make Your Home Search Better

When you’re searching for the perfect home for sale in Uptown Charlotte, a great home in Mint Hill, or any other type of property, you want the whole process to go smoothly—and so does your Charlotte Realtor®.

Unfortunately, after a few (dozen) home tours, they all start to blur together… and you may have a hard time narrowing down your choices when you can’t remember which home had which features.

How to Make Your Home Search Better

When you’re out and about with your Realtor, we advise you to bring a printout of each listing you’re going to tour. (We can even print them for you, if you’d like!) That way, you can take notes right on the listing itself.

We also suggest:

• Making good use of your smartphone’s camera. You can take pictures in each house you visit to keep your memory fresh when you go home and mull over your choices. (Bonus tip: Take a photo of the house number before you go in each house. That way, you’ll be able to keep all the homes straight when you’re flipping through the photos later.)
• Check out the neighborhoods and the houses next door to those that you’re touring. Would a two-story block some of the sun in your kitchen, or is there a power plant in the back of the neighborhood?
• Rate each home on a scale of 1 to 10 as soon as you leave. Later, you can throw out the listings that didn’t make the cut (say, everything worse than a five) so you save time going back through.

Once you’ve narrowed your choices to a few homes, it’s a good idea to call your agent and ask for another round of tours—unless, of course, you have a clear winner and you’re ready to buy. If that’s the case, don’t hesitate; make an offer quickly, because if you fell in love with it, chances are pretty good that others did, too.
