Did you know that the Charlotte Fire Department, in partnership with many community organizations, offers and installs carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms? It’s true! If you need smoke alarms or a carbon monoxide alarm, request them from the Charlotte Fire Department.
Fire kills more people in the United States than all natural disasters combined! Carbon monoxide is the top cause of poisoning deaths in America. It kills nearly 4,000 Americans every year. You can’t see or smell it, but a carbon monoxide detector can alert you if its in your house.
If you or someone you know needs a carbon monoxide alarm or fire alarm, request one from the fire department. Here’s a link to the form to request an alarm. Fill out the request form or call the smoke alarm hotline. The number for the smoke alarm hotline is 704-336-2697. The Charlotte Fire Department will come out to evaluate the home and process the request as long as a responsible adult is available to show them in during the visit.
See, there’s no reason why a home in Charlotte should go without a carbon monoxide detector or smoke alarm! If you know someone who might benefit from this, please pass along the information.
